Is there anyone who work or worked before in a photography company full time and have a salary range (starting pay) to share? Want to have a gauge and considering doing full time.

It depend what type of photography are you going to do. What is your field of interest in the first place? Are you seeking a job of been a full time photographer or an assistant photographer?

It's good to start a biz at the peak of one's interest with lots'a fire in the belly. Go all out, do your planning and remember a back out plan.

I have a friend who charges $8k for AD and another friend who makes $10-15k for pre wedding. They barely need 1 customer per month to live comfortably, but they are fully book till Feb 08!

On the other end of the spectrum, I see some struggle with $388 packages with unlimited shots, and some even with prints below $500! And if they break they L lenses and damaged all their gears in a heavy rain.... they might just give it all up.

Both examples are just extreme ends, but where may you fit? If as a commercial photographer for architecture or creative ads or food, it can get more demanding with specific requirements from clients.

So, benchmark yourself, make the $ and propel forward with while the iron is still hot.

Have fun~

Different effects will happen to different people.

For eg, I was a Hardware hobbylist, did IT job, and I'm still an IT hobbylist now (just can't spend the $$$ to keep up with it only :p) ...

i totally agree with this ....

To yili,

Take a deeeep think b4 u really want get into this field ...
Normally a new full time photographer, who can get 24k per annu is very good alr (at least 6 days per week, working hrs at least 10 hrs. per day, no OT claim, no oversea allowance) ... so wat do u think Assistant can get ..

Wat u can get in full time photographer is money (maybe), not your skill. X now a day all depends on wat customer want not wat u want.

Wat i can say was only "Good luck" to u.
