MacInTouch Reports Data Loss Bug in Leopard

Don't use the Finder to move your image files.
Users of Apple's recently released Mac OS 10.5 Leopard operating system were warned today by Ric Ford's MacInTouch that the new Finder "fails to reliably perform the most basic of operations: moving files."
The MacInTouch tester used Command-drag to move several large files from an internal to an external drive. Unlike a copy, the move command also deletes the originals. During the move, the tester disconnected the external drive only to find that the "folders disappeared from both drives!" Using mv, the Unix version of the move command, the original files were not deleted before the copy had completed.
Manually copying and then deleting files, rather than moving them with the Finder is the recommended workaround.
