Hi, guys, how do u constantly keep the horizontal line, (landscape or horizontal line in background) straight.. I sometimes can get the line straight, while most of the times, the line always slant slightly to one side, regardless of whether i adjust my hand positon or camera position.:confused1:
thanks very much:clap2:

Hi, you can use the tripod if permitted on the location.
As for handheld, by tilting the camera slightly to the left or right. I would take as many shots as possible to get the best straight line.
Last method will be in Photoshop doing the adjustment.

try using a levelling spirit device (some called it level bubble). It is mounted on the hotshoe. This is an important tool for landscape/architectual photographers.
Quite a few places sell them and you can check with camera shop. Its usually in neon green color. Its about $40 a piece.
The ones come with some tripods may not be that useful as your ballhead can still tilt.

Horizontal line (Coordinate Geometry)
Definition: A straight line on the coordinate plane where all points on the line have the same y-coordinate.
Try this Drag the points A or B and note the line is horizontal when they both have the same y-coordinate.
A horizontal line is one the goes left-to-right, parallel to the x-axis of the coordinate plane. All points on the line will have the same y-coordinate. In the figure above, drag either point and note that the line is horizontal when they both have the same y-coordinate. Layers of horizontal lines can create rhythm or patterns in an image that can become the focus of an image in and of itself.

Horizons are the most common horizontal line to be found in photographs and they often act as a dividing point in a photograph – in effect an anchor that the rest of the image is formed around.
If you want to accentuate the calming stable impact of a horizon one effective technique to use is to shoot your images with horizontal framing (with the longest part of your cameras frame from left to right.
