Hi Guys,

Other than Sandisk and Lexar, is there any other brands of Compact Flash (reliable) that you would recommend? Kingston? Ridata?

Need to get more cards for my D300 before my next travel.

Thanks.

Sandisk is the safest so far.

Personally I would recommend Sandisk. I have had problems with Lexar cards and have the excruciating experience of losing my images, with one occasion on a wedding shoot which I could not make it up to the couple.

I have also used Ridata and Kingston cards. Ridata is reliable but IMO slow. Kingston recently also gave me problems with overheating. I wonder if it's the card faulty but it actually became very hot to touch and when it is plugged into a card reader, it is not recognised.

Just my own opinions. Now I only buy Sandisk.

My history goes from Transcend 25X to Lexar40X, Lexar 80X then to Sandisk ExtremeIII.

Though I encountered no issues with the types I used, capacity and speed was an issue when I needed it. Lexar was a bit slow to come out with 8GBs, so I swapped to Sandisk. Though I've heard and seen multiple issues with Lexars on Nikon/Canon DSLRs, personally never experience them on my own sets.

Currently a happy (and poor) user of Sandisk Extreme III cards. Think will stick with it for now. 16GB is out. $390. So cheap :(

true  no point use such a big memory to shoot, 4g is enough for most events or use 2-3 card at least 'touch wood' sometime fail got back up.

Tested the limit a few times, went Tibet, barely filled up a 8GB, had a spare 8GB and although my P2000 died, I didn't really have to over shoot 8GB. *Phew* for weddings 8GB just nice covers the morning and more, and also dinner, it's just safe to have one more for back up :)

So I'm staying away from the 16GB for now... probably change again when 32GB or 64GB is out ;)

At Sitex, Sandisk 4GB Extreme III / IV is selling at $110 and $150 each respectively. As I don't do sports photography, do I need the extra speed that Extreme IV offer? or should I go for Extreme III instead in order to save the extra cost but not comprising on the performance? Tough choice... :knock1:

Btw, Nikon is offering the D300 at $2999 with the following free gift:
1. Tripod
2. Gretag Macbet Calibrator
3. Screen Protector
4. Bag
5. 2 GB CF Card

Didn't asked for stock balance as I have already got mine last week... :happy1:

Enjoy the show if you all are going...
