It can be of the public penning their New Year wishes on the wishing spheres, at the wishing stations, the light-up of Marina Bay, or even the fireworks against Singapore's city skyline on 31 December. We invite you to be a part of the year-end countdown by capturing poignant moments of this event throughout December and stand a chance to win attractive prizes.

Rules and Regulations / Terms and Conditions

1. The theme of the competition is Marina Bay Countdown 07/08 : Make a Wish for the New Year. Participants are free to interpret this theme in any way they deem fit and take pictures of the following components of the event, namely:

* Penning of wishing spheres at the wishing stations;
* Installation of wishing spheres in Marina Bay and the on-site preparation works for the event;
* Lighting of Marina Bay against Singapore's city skyline for the event;
* Visual display of wishing spheres, lighting and fireworks during the Marina Bay Countdown 07/08 set against Singapore's city skyline; and
* People and festive ambience around Marina Bay on 31 Dec 2007 during the event.

2. Entries will be judged on their relevance to the theme of the competition, creativity and overall technical quality.

3. This competition is open to all.



Criteria

1. There is no limit to the number of entries each participant can submit.

2. Short listed participants may be required to produce the original and unedited digital file, negative or slide.

3. The participant must be the sole owner and author of all photographs submitted.

4. Photographs which have previously won prizes in any other competition are not eligible to be submitted.



Format

1. Colour and monochrome photographs will be accepted.

2. Photographs taken with either digital or film cameras will be accepted.

3. All entries must be submitted in the minimum image resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels (6 mega pixels). Files must be saved as JPEGs at "high" or "maximum" quality or as TIFs.

4. All entries will have to be burnt into a single CD and accompanied by photographic prints of 8R (8" x 10") size. Photographic slides and art prints are ineligible, unless specifically requested by the contest organizers.



Submission

1. Each entry must be accompanied by a duly completed ENTRY FORM. The entry form shall be pasted onto the back of the photographic print for each entry. There shall be no visible markings or other indications at the front of the print that may reveal the participant's identity. Entries without the entry forms will be disqualified.

3. The event organisers will not be held responsible for any lost or damaged entries.



Rights

1. The organisers of the event will not be held responsible for any lost or damaged works.

2. Should the contest participant's entry wins, or be short-listed for an award, exhibition or publication, the participant grants the organizers of the event a non-exclusive royalty-free and sub-licensable licence to use the participant's photograph for exhibition purposes and reproduce any photographs for publicity purposes or other materials in connection with this contest or future contests, without requiring the organisers and/or sponsors to notify the participant, seek the participant's permission, or owe any form of compensation to the participant. Relevant credit to the original photographers will be given.

3. The judge's decision is final. No correspondence will be entertained.



Deadlines

1. The deadline for submission of all entries is Mon, 14 Jan 08, 1700hrs. Entries received after the stipulated date and time will not be accepted.

2. Winners will be notified via email by Mon, 28 Jan 08. The results will also be posted on the official website: www.marinabaycountdown.sg.



Prizes

1. The prizes are as follows:

1. 1st prize: $2000
2. 2nd prize: $1000
3. 3rd prize: $500
4. 10 merit mentions: $200 each


2. Each participant is only entitled to win one prize in total. In the case of a participant winning more than one prize, the prize of the higher value will be given.

3. The event organisers reserve the right to alter and/or impose new rules and regulations as deemed necessary.

4. Participation in the event signifies agreement and acceptance of the terms and conditions listed above.
