If your computer is quite old for example >3 years, sometimes they will not have the ram already. Sometimes the older kind of RAM are a little more expensive than the newer due to lack of supply. (no more in production).
Good luck!
There's ECC, SD, EDO, DDR, DDR2, DDR3 type of RAMs and more, have to be more specific wor.

Dear friend:
Dimension 5150
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=us&category_id=6436&cs=28&l=en&s=dfb&mfgpid=167500&chassisid=8238
Dimension 5150C

You have 4 slots at the model that you are using and the Max memory supported is 4GB. The memory is configuring to run in pair to fully utilize the capability. This means that you may need to dispose the 2*512MB that you are using.
In refer the link above Dell have 2 separate model but still using the same memory specification with Dell printed on the memory. The links show that they are selling the memory that is running DDR II SDRAM, 667 MHz (PC2-5300).
So go to SLS find the same specification of memory DDR II SDRAM ,667 MHz ( PC2-5300 ) If you want to have 4 GB in total for your PC then you can buy 2 X 2GB memory selling about $75 per piece or 2 GB in total then buy 2 X 1GB about $33 per piece at current (Fuwell price for this week, you may look for other shop this is just a quick reference for you only).
Installation part,
1) Power off, open the cover method may be varies depend on model.
2) remove the memory, (loosen the handle at both site of the memory so that you can remove it)
3) Slot the memory into the same slot as the previous memory you remove. make sure that the handle are properly click to both site of the memory.
4) Before close the cover power on the PC. If very thing booted up and show that there is 4 GB of memory this mean you have successfully install.
NOTE:
If the memories fail to install properly the PC will have beep sound when you power on the PC. Could be this:
1) Memory not install properly, try to install again.
2) Memory install in the different slot or order.
3) Memory Fault (very rare)
Memory failure will not cause the data loses, so don't worry if anything when wrong in front of your customer. Try again.
The price is obtained from SLS, please check the price again before you buy.
This is a reference, configuration and installation will not be grantee by DOG@sg....:dog:

If you plug 2GB of RAM into the mobo, the mobo should detect 2GB of RAM upon POST. Anything else may indicate potential trouble. From what I see in your picture, the RAM type is DDR400 CL3 unbuffered non-ECC. This RAM type should be easily available in computer shops in Sim Lim Square at reasonable price. 1GB stick should cost about $95 plus. However, do note buy only CL3 rated RAM unless your mobo can support CL2.5. Do not plug CL3 and CL2.5 RAMs into the mobo as it could affect speed & stability.
The other things to note is - does the mobo support dual channel RAM configuration (a.k.a run in pairs)? If yes, then whatever RAM sticks you want to plug in MUST be identical (same make and model). Example, 2 X 1GB, 4 X 1GB, 2 X 512MB, etc.
PS - 'CL' in simple term refers to the sync speed and internal processing delay of the RAM. The lesser the figure, the faster the RAM. CL2.5 is faster than CL3.

sounds normal...i believe the rest of the RAM has been eaten up by your graphics card due to shared memory.
You are quite lucky cos not all RAMs sold in Sim Lim Sq can be used on Dell PCs. Since it shows 3.62 then I guess it's fine.
