Following the successful global launch of Tiger Translate in 2006, Tiger Beer is offering Asias best emerging multi-disciplinary artists the unique opportunity to collaborate with, and showcase their work alongside leading international artists at the Tiger Translate global event in London later this year. This collaboration will result in a showcase of the artists vision of contemporary Asia as the third year of the global lifestyle campaign gets underway.
Tiger Beer is committed to nurturing creativity in the local scene, and to providing opportunities for emerging artists to make their mark on the global stage. The Tiger Translate FUTURE competition in Singapore provides an excellent platform for Tiger Beer to show its support for local talents.
This year, artists are required to submit ideas and designs which reflect their interpretation of the theme of Future, in the context of modern Asia (please see attached Brief for more details). These entries, the medium of which is open to all disciplines of art and design, will then be carefully selected by an esteemed panel of judges that include - Alvin Tan (Founder, Phunk Studio), Chris Lee (Creative Director, Asylum), Steve Llewellyn (Executive Creative Director, Bates 141 Singapore), Ivanho Harlim (Photographer), Kelley Cheng (Editor, iSh) and Terry Ong (Creative Editor, I-S).
Mr Daniel Teo, General Manager (Commercial), Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore, said: With an international award-winning legacy that began in Asia, Tiger Beer has evolved into a world-acclaimed beer and we are fully behind the Tiger Translate initiative that gives emerging Asian artists the opportunity to showcase their work on a global stage and raise their profile both in their home country and internationally. Tigers AKAs represent a relevant and cutting-edge perspective of contemporary Asia and embody the same attributes that the brand does.
Judged based on concept, originality and strength of expression, artworks from the top seven submissions will be exhibited at the Tiger Translate FUTURE event in July 2008, during which the eventual winner will be announced. He/she will win a trip to London in August 2008 for the chance to showcase his/her artworks and collaborate with renowned international and regional artists on the global stage. Additionally, the winners submission for the Tiger Beer bottle design will be produced for sale as a limited edition Tiger Beer bottle in some of Singapores leading night spots.
The winner will also join the collective known as Tigers Asian Kinetic Artists (AKAs), which includes the likes of Faile (New York), Rostarr (New York) and Phunk Studio (Singapore). In line with Tiger Beers aim to showcase emerging Asian artists, selected AKAs will be given the opportunity to converse, explore ideas and collaborate with established international artists, and to showcase their work to Londons progressive art and design community during the Tiger Translate global event.
This exclusive event is a multi-sensory East-West fusion of art, design and music with a focus on bringing the best of Asia to the world and the worlds best to Asia. The Tiger Translate platform enables emerging Asian artists to venture onto the world stage by leveraging on Tiger Beers extensive global network. To further increase the profile of these selected AKAs, their artworks will also be available for public viewing.
Previous works done for Tiger Translate by the Tiger AKAs have also received industry-wide recognition. Singapores very own emerging design collective, Momorobo created an animated music video for the new single of Bangkok-based East-West rock band Futon, which received the Audience Choice Award at Singapores Resfest. Momorobo also designed the Tiger Translate brand identity for 2007.
Mr Teo added, There is a dynamic arts scene in Asia and we want to build a strong relationship with Singaporean artists to showcase a slice of Asias best and allow our Tiger AKAs to benefit from creative exchanges with other international artists.
Tiger Beer is now calling out to aspiring Singaporean artists to submit their works for Future, and stand a chance to have their works displayed on the global stage as well as be recognised as one of Tigers Asian Kinetic Artist (AKA).
All entries can be sent to TigerTranslate@apb.com.sgThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Closing date for submissions is Saturday 24 May 2008, at midnight.
