Came across this discussion thread in ModelsMayham on the Alpha 900. A lot of interesting information, marketing strategies, platforms, lenses being discussed there as well.

As there are many Sony (and Minolta-mount) users here, I am very surprised that there has been no response here to Sony's release of the world's first FF dslr with on-camera image stabilisation. The camera has had many excellent reviews.
Anyway, it was launched in Singapore on 18 Sep 2008.
It retained most of the A700's control layout and A700 (and A200, A300, A350) owners will find manipulating it very familiar.
What I like most about it is it's made to sense and use APS-C lenses plus one can choose to shoot in the 1.5X crop format. The advantage for me is that I don't have to go get that 800mm lens to replace my 500mm. Another is with the choice to shoot 24mp FF or 12mp cropped, I can half the number of lenses I need to take out for a shoot. :coolnod: It shoots 5 fps at FF so I wonder if, with the dual processor now, can it be faster at 1.5X crop?
Other features I like amongst others are the availability
1) MLU (mirror lock up) which would help in macro or long telephoto shots
2) micro adjustments for lens specific AF tuning for up to 30 lenses which is retained in memory
3) 100% viewfinder at 0.74 magnification
4) same battery as the A700
I was informed the camera will be available in local shops in early October and cost below $4500, maybe below $4000.

40D feature cannot fight with your A700 lar! If you want to sell than post it in market place lor. Sure can sell.
