i hear that there are still stocks of s5 pro around various shops going for around $1.2k, so this could be your last chance to grab a set. after reading fuji's press release at photokina, it seems like the s5 pro will be the last DSLR from fuji.

to tempt you a bit here is a photo that i recovered today using adobe camera raw after my sb800 miscommunicated with my s5 pro and blew out the photo almost completely.

1. the RAW photo as shot, and opened in ACR.

2. after adjusting exposure by -4 stops in ACR.

3. after adjusting white balance

4. the final product

25mb RAW is very worth it esp if the shot is very important

That is amazing, a badly over exposure pic can recover till very usable. Wow... Have it been tried out whether how far can one over expose it and still able to recover the pic in a usable state?

i wish i could but -4 stops is the max ACR can offer. too bad thats the only application that can do the job well. my gut feel is can go another -0.5 to -1 stop.

Indeed my friend. This is really scary stuff and one reason that appealed to me to sink into my S3Pro in the first place.

But with full frame offerings like D700 and 5DMkII coming up, even though I'm not in a rush to change camera, the temptation still calls.

did you use a card reader or did you connect the cam to the computer via usb? i'm pretty sure i downloaded around 1500 RAW files from 3 cf cards into my computer well within 30 mins using a card reader.
