The guidelines to Photoshoot Advertiser's posted as a sticky in the Photoshoot sub-forum only reminds organisers to mind the well-being of the models. What about the participants?
Organiser's do have an obligation, especially when they are being paid by the participants, that they ensure that the environment is suitable and conducive to shooting or at least not introduce elements to the contrary.
In a photoshoot organised in another forum, though the condition of anonymity was implicit from precedence and was guaranteed in a statement that the location will only be disclosed to participants, the organiser invited or at least notified and allowed a press photographer to the shoot. Worse of all, the participants were only informed of this AFTER they arrived at the location. In other words, they were "sold down the river" by the organiser who saw an opportunity for publicity, USED the participants to put on a show for the press and never considered the direction the report would take and the consequences of such.
Subsequently, this article and photograph appearred in the Sunday Times the next day,
http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_359663.html
The online article indicated there was more available in the print section, which ended with the following invitation in bold
"Young girls posing in bikinis or lingerie for money - Is it appropriate? Have your say at www.straitstimes.com"
The most damning quote was from the shoot organisers that the models were USUALLY BETWEEN 14 AND 22 years of age. This statement, which may be referring to photoshoots in general, coupled with the focus of the article on bikinis and lingerie, would give the casual reader a paedophilic impression.
Therefore, I propose that another clause be included in the guideline, or better, condition for registration of shoot organisers, to conduct themselves with due regard to the interests of their participants.
