Not that it matters as much as you may reckon, but the D90 SLR has a minuscule (12.3MP) image sensor than the marginally less expensive EOS Rebel T1i (15.1MP). If those specs were all you knew, then it would seem reasonably obvious that the Rebel T1i, is the unsurpassed SLR for the money today. By just paying attention to the technical specification numbers, you don't understand the big picture (pun intended) here. Bigger is sometimes not better.

The aperture is the size of the opening in a lens that determines how much light reaches the sensor (digital) or film (manual). Changing the size of the lens aperture changes how the scene is captured in a photograph. Look on the barrel or the front of the lens on your camera to find the maximum aperture.
