if u want macro get the older version

if u want to shoot just portraits use the F2 version, this is sharper than the 2.8

the new L is just namesake only not worth get, Not all L lens are worth buying.

If the price of Canon EF 100mm f2.8L same as Sigma 150mm f2.8..
