WAH! I am really amazed that there are so many enemies :happy1: oops! I mean Animes over at the other forum. No wonder I could not rent my poison lens.
Anyone interested in the next anime event, especially if free? Most of the pixs actually quite boring but here and there got a few I thought quite nice, eg froisnaidu #3 and Xkaonslaught first pix and few others. But most pixs are boring because, since the subject matter is interesting, the shooters not much imagination, just shoot straight. I am pretty sure such a colourful event holds a lot more potential.
So if anyone, TheChef perhaps, knows of more enemies coming, maybe we can have a FUN outing there?

bro,
do not treat cosplay as any TFCD or paid model shoot. They are not models and they cosplay characters from the japanese anime...bla bla bla
there are some rules to follow and not get urself branded as "THAT PHOTOGRAPHER AGAIN"
Rule no 1. "ask for permission"
Rule no 2. "do not ask them to pose like this or like that to your liking, they will pose for you accordingly to the character they cosplaying"
Rule no 3. "Say thank you"
my 2 cents

Rule no 2. "do not ask them to pose like this or like that to your liking, they will pose for you accordingly to the character they cosplaying"
After knowing Bluffname for almost 2 years, I can assure you he will never ask them to pose like this or that. He will just say "show me your hands' (I am sure these characters have hands unless they pose as animals or insects, then it is paws and claws).

For me, after meeting bluffname in 3+ outings, and developed our uncle-new-phew relationship. I reckon he will never ask the lady to pose like this or that. He will position himself ..away from other photograhers and just shoot the "uptight" shot - Hand off course and may be the eyelid, black lip, ear with thousand holes, spiky hair and tattoo showing the anime and colorful "Topeng" feel or other so-called photographer's drooling mouth rather than just portrait shoots-from "Head-face-shoulder-knee and toe... knee and toe. (my girl's song)
Uncle Bluffname, rite?

This Saturday I will probably go 'sHOOTing' at either 6A or 6B while all of you shoot photos along Keong Siak Road. Now you know why I must recce that area beforehand.

My previous post is the general guidelines. Apology if the previous post offended anyone.

Hi Tatboo,
No offense. We are FUN people.
THanks for the advices. Indeed what u mentioned are fundamentals and we need to be polite, respect, and appreciate. Not to take things for granted.
When they pose for other photographer, I will stand behind the photographer, I may give a slight signal to the girls if they look at me and shoot and thank you is a must. I may even share the photo with them, if they are comfortable and provide me their email address.
As long we keep to the fundamentals and courtesy, not taking indecent "location", it should be fine.
In most cases, these teenagers in cosplay costume enjoyed the attention and be our model. Offcouse we should not take things for granted.
Wait.... not sure if the model will allow us to use the macro set up to the eye lashes? (e.g 105/2.8and flash or raynox set up)
Uncle Bluffname, is 300mm enough from far for the close up shoot for eye lashes?
cheers
P/s: Mr tatboo, do join us in this coming Sat's outing.:coolnod:

My apology for the late reply. Thank you for the invitation, maybe another time, as been busy with work.
As fellow bro's & sis's of SGshoot, do not wish anyone be branded with "GWC" by the cosplayer like the other forum.
I have been shooting & working with cosplayer for some years. This are some basic feedbacks from them.
Happy shooting, the next event is EOY 2009. Details below.
EOY 2009 – An Extraordinary Journey

National Library, Singapore
Saturday, 26 December 2009
10am to 6pm (1000 – 1800 GMT+8)

Cheers.
