View Full Version : Nikon 85f1.4 vs 105f2.5

Hi guys... I used to had a Nikon 85f1.4 but later I sold it off. Because I found tat 105f2.5 also very sharp and the bokeh is also very creamy...Any comment on this?

Problem with 85f1.4 was when shooting portrait DOF very thin sometime u will get 1 eye sharper 1 eye blur like this picture

I suggest you sell both lenses lah.

I sold both my CZ 85mm f1.4 and 105 f2.5 but kept the Voigtlander 90mm f3.5 SL instead. Frankly speaking, I find the bokeh of this Voigtlander (at f3.5) not worse than the CZ 85mm f1.4 (at f1.4).

Better to get the 70-300 VR lah. You already have 85mm prime lens, 105 is just a bit closer, cheaper to step forward than to buy another lens.

See arh... The 70-300 VR retails for around S$830. He just add another $600 and get wider zoom range.

In fact, I sold most of my prime lenses liao (including my super expensive CZ 50mm f2 macro). Not much value and personal satisfaction if I just keep them inside my dry cabinet most of the time.
