Based on our experience last year, it is better to take a light meal beforehand as most people will get hungry halfway through the shoot.

Furthermore, such shoot requires a lot of patience due to the vast crowds. Be very careful with your camera and lens; people may accidentally knock into them.

This is a good example that this Fuji FinePix F200EXR can achieve in the night.
Good wishes photo was taken at a hotel lobby counter with ISO800, DR400. F4.1 and shutter speed 1/5.3sec hand held.

This is a good example that this Fuji FinePix F200EXR can achieve in the night.

In general, most Fujifilm compact cameras equipped with SuperCCD are great for low-light photography.

I took this picture at Esplanade during the Mosaic Music Festival in March this year when I still have my FinePix F200EXR. I sold it in September and bought a FinePix F31fd.

Yes, you are absolutely correct, this blue Christmas tree picture is a tricky shot to take.
The only light source is emitted from the blue LED lights and auto focusing is rather difficult. I find the colours very unusual in the final image
settings at ISO 800, DR400, shutter at 1/4 sec, F4.3 with +2 aperture increase.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This Christmas tree was taken at Anchor Point , the lighting is more brighter and of a different colour nature.
Settings ISO 800 DR 100, F4.6 and shutter @ 1/10, plus 2/3 aperture compensation.

Bluffname, Amberture and I went to Orchard Road to recce this evening to about 10:30pm.

Yes, this year's Christmas lighting is definitely better than previous years'. Plus, ION Orchard is there, so more exciting venues to shoot.

Bro KopiOkaya,

Too bad I cannot join u guys last nite. I guess the guys, enjoyed the planning, process, all the recce and preparation for this Xmas Outing. Should make this Xmas outing a month long activity- free and easy for each FUN member to Bro-mancing with their Fuji Camera. Ha!

I will be happy to go to Orchard/ City Hall every day for this month if I can. :knock1:

True, this christmas lighting is the best of all that I can recalled in recent 5 yrs at least. Every1 said so that it is better than last year.

Can any1 enlighten me if Orchard Christmas lighting was even better in early 1990s/ late 80s? I recalled Centrepoint always won the best christmas decoration rite?

Cheers,

Decorations during the late 90s and 80s was fancier and bigger scale, meaning, the displays were larger and more 'lively'.

Yes, Centrepoint used to win the tourism award for best Christmas decoration almost every year then, until their management was taken over by Fraser Group. Their displays got worse by the year ever since.

Talking about hands, Bluffname hands series is wonderful in his book on hands.
Now it's my turn to showcase some hands and legs.

The 3 photos below was taken out of the showcase at the window display with my Fuji FinePix F200EXR.

At one time I was told by the other Photo frontier that a professional photographer must use DSLR to do his professional works and I proved him wrong
that I use only PnS to do all my works for my client.

These three photos take out of the display window is good enough for any of the women glossy magazine.

i suppose the accolades for this yr's xmas decor is due to the opening of the ION. In the last few years, the area is a mess with the dust form the construction and all the plywood hoarding. there was one period when I didn't go to Orchard for a few months! :confused1:

now i go there almost every week! :happy1:

Navigating around ION Orchard can be both confusing and frustrating (especially on a crowded weekend). Despite having been there countless times, I STILL get lost.

To ensure a stress-free and hassle-free F.U.N. outing this Saturday, I have included here -

Directions to Burger King @ ION Orchard

By MRT

If you are taking the MRT to Orchard (NS22), exit station via ION Orchard.
You are now at level B2.
Follow the overhead sign that says: 'ION PATERSON LINK (To Wheelock Place)'.

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r101/zonevifreak/IONOrchardDirections1.jpg

Before reaching Wheelock Place, you will see a row of shops consisting of Dunkin' Donuts, Itacho Sushi and Bread Society (on your left), and Levi's, Puma, Clarks, Ecco and Li-Ning (on your right).

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r101/zonevifreak/IONOrchardDirections2.jpg

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r101/zonevifreak/IONOrchardDirections3.jpg

Take the escalator down to level B3 (the overhead sign says: 'DINING @ B3').
You are now at level B3.
Turn left.
Burger King @ ION Orchard is just ahead (between Fish and Co and Lu Gang Xiao Zhen by The Asian Kitchen).

In view of the Circus at Orchard Central at 8pm, see SoonHoe's post, Le Cirque de la Ville, (http://www.sgshoot.com/forums/showthread.php?p=49831#post49831) how about we end our Orchard shoot there at 8pm and those interested can continue to shoot the circus?

It is quite a distant walk from ION Orchard to Orchard Central. Unless everybody agree we go there, otherwise, we shall make a loop back to Tangs from Paragon as we had originally planned.

From our past year's experience, we will not be able to complete beyond Ngee Ann City by 8pm. Unless I request everybody to photograph chop-chop and move to the next destination. In such a case, it defeats the purpose of having a FUN outing. Nobody will enjoy it.

Definitely not "shoot chop chop". That is the last thing I want. Just that I thought instead of making a loop, if we walk straight down it comes to about the same distance and time. Anyway just a suggestion. We can always shoot the circus on another night, since they will be performing till Dec 23.

All F.U.N. folks,

After recce Orchard Road for the 3rd time, here is our planned route for tomorrow's F.U.N. outing:

(START) Meet at Burger King @ ION Orchard.
Proceed to ION Orchard level 1 outdoor area.
To Wisma Atria.
To Ngee Ann City (rest and short break outside Civic Plaza, near 7-Eleven).
Walk across the traffic junction to The Paragon.
To Lucky Plaza.
To Tangs.
Those who wish to join us for snack and drink may proceed to McDonald's at Shaw House. Otherwise, you may 'chabut' first. (END)

Those of you who wish to photograph the Le Cirque de la Ville @ Orchard Central, may join us during one of our ad-hoc BRO-mancing outing. I will keep you informed.

Time now is half past one on a warm Sunday morning. I am as tired and sleepy as I can be, but I decided to boot-up my computer to compose this post.

First of all, I will like to thank everyone for coming to our 'O Little Town of Orchard Road' Christmas F.U.N. outing. Compared to last year, this time was considered a success, even though some members were lost halfway.

Secondly, I wish to thank the following members (and non-members):

Jimmy and his partner (our guests) - I thank both of you for coming. Hopefully you have discovered the magic of Fujifilm FinePix cameras and consider purchasing one in the near future.

Coolsigg and partner - I am sorry that we lost your halfway through the shoot. This was my fault. I should have allocated the meet-up locations and time before the shoot, while we were still at Burger King. The crowd outside ION Orchard was insane. I hope you had a rewarding shoot on your own after that.

Andikong and Sofi - I cannot thank both of you more... Both of you are always so supportive and encouraging. You are the sole reason why people are interested to use FinePix compact camera. I confidently proclaim F.U.N. without both of you is not the same. Thanks for showing us how to use effect filters with our compact cameras. Before I forget, thank you so much for the light snacks. They definitely came at the right time and satisfied our stomachs (next round of kopi on me :)).

Selim - Bro... Thanks for staying with us throughout the outing. I could feel that you really enjoy the shoot. Remember to post some of your masterpieces soon.

Sgsoonhoe - Again, thanks for staying with us throughout the outing. You and Andikong had made new discoveries using our compact cameras with effect filters. Hope to see your 'topeng standard' masterpieces as well.

Amberture - Or should I call you Brother Newphew? You are the magnet of our group. A very 'powderful' magnet in fact. Bro, I cannot thank you more for guiding our guests and new members, introducing F.U.N. and get them to know us better. You are the BEST!!!

Jacob - I am sorry that your son is not feeling well. Hopefully he is feeling better now. It was so unfortunate that you had to leave us so early. You MUST definitely join us for the shoot during our next F.U.N. outing, okay?

And finally, Bluffname - Maestro, thanks for helping me recce the place 4 out of 5 times. Once again, thank you for suggesting Burger King @ ION Orchard as the meet-up place. You are truly a great maestro friend who is always there whenever and wherever I needed help.

We shall all have a 'well-deserved' break between now and our next F.U.N. outing; which will be a Chinese New Year outing at Chinatown next year. Do keep an eye on SgShoot forum and Fujifilm F.U.N. blog for the announcement.

In the meantime, we will be organizing ad hoc BROmancing outing regularly. Please PM or sms either Bluffname or myself if you wish to join our next BROmancing outing.

I MUST go to bed now.... My eyes are closing-shut.

Brother Newphew,

Thanks for your kind words. I hope to see you during our next and upcoming Bromancing outings. We go shoot at Esplanade lah. So it is nearer to your house. And it is also easier for Sister Newphew and Princess Newphew (your wife and daughter) to join us.

Have a merry, merry Christmas to you and your family too.
