Hi, anyone can help with this?

Suddenly today, I cannot connect to sgshoot with my Firefox brower, although in the past all ok and other sites still ok. However, I can connect using Apple Safari (I am Mac User) and Google Chrome.

In the past I ever had problems connecting with certain websites and it was traced to a proxy settings issue. And I solved the matter by calling Singnet helpdesk. But in that case, I could not connect using Firefox or Safari (at that time no Google Chrome yet) and I only could not connect to my own website as well as other websites hosted by my hosting company in Canada.

In this case, Firefox cannot but other browers can, so I don't think it is a proxy issue with Singnet. Any body knows what is going on or has similar connection difficulties?

Thanks

I am also a Mac user and using Firefox all the while, but there were times where the connection is slow and error message popping up.
I have to restart and get connected again.

This happens since last night.

I was unable to connect to sgshoot.com in China although I can connect to other photography forums. Maybe the Chinese authorities blocked it thinking I was trying to connect to sexshoot or shootforsex.

are you still having issues with firefox? i am able to connect using firefox 3.6.2 on my mac os x 10.6.3. i'm using starhub.

those who are currently having issues, please list down the following info.

1. os version
2. browser version
3. internet service provider
4. are you able to connect to other sites like pbase, photobucket, flickr, facebook, etc?
5. any other info that you think may be useful to troubleshoot this.

maybe can try the following.

1. clear firefox cache
2. remove ~/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox.plist (make a copy of it first).
3. try creating a new profile in firefox and see if you can connect with that.

Sorry arh, where it comes to IT matters I am an "oldbie but blurbie" - after 20 years still dunno some basics.

#1 can do, didn't work
#2 no confidence to do since you say must copy first. What is the implication of removing that and why must copy first?
#3 dunno how to do :confused1:

Anyway I was using OSX 10.6.2 now upgrading to 10.6.3 see what happens. Thanks

for #2....the plist (property list) file stores some firefox preferences. you can rename the file. this will force firefox to recreate a new one. if that doesn't solve the problem, then it's probably not caused by that file and you can always delete the new plist file and rename the old one back to original.

In Singapore, I can connect via both Opera and Skyfire (OS is Windows Mobile 6.1). Internet Explorer for Windows Vista and Windows XP also no problem.

It is just that when I go China, it gives me the impression that this site is banned big time. Why is this so?

That's because words like "hampalang", "F**K" and "sHOOT AH" are banned in the Mainland.

Strangely, I have absolutely no problem accessing SgShoot. BUT I am encountering problems accessing "the other" photography forum.

Nevermind then... all my buddies are here anyway.

The Fujifilm forum over at the other forum is virtually dead. All the interesting characters had either vanished or banished. Sad.

Anyway the issue of "cannot connect" seems to only affect me and those in China, so never mind lah. I think my computer sar thiam long liao. probably need a technician to look into it.

Time to upgrade to Adobe Creative Suite 5, which will be launched in a few days' time.

That site was very drama, especially Fujifilm forum. But, that was months ago. There was OT and flames thrown all over the shop. You were from there until you were given the red card. I think the penalty was too harsh. Let bygones be bygones.

did you use software update or download the combo updater? did you use disk utility to repair permissions after upgrading?

I used software update and did not get any request to repair. Anyway, re-installing my  CS2 now.

That's why I said you need to downgrade instead of upgrade. This is the reason why I am still using WinDOZE XP (a 9 year-old program). I am a firm believer that the OS must be older than the application software in order for it to work properly.

This is true. A lot of existing programs can't run on Windoze 7.

Hi, anyone can help with this?

Suddenly today, I cannot connect to sgshoot with my Firefox brower.

And then now suddenly, after so many days, can again :confused1:

Meanwhile, my other problem with Adobe CS2 solved by re-loading my OSX, although that was two days ago and last two days still could not connect.

Thanks to Madmacs and others for the help and suggestions, except that, of course, I will not take up KopiOKaya's suggestion to downgrade from Mac to PC.

What I like is to run older software on current hardware. Makes everything go super fast.
