 Well done. Better than some of the examples of IR I saw at recent Ngee Ann exhibition. Beyond the IR effect, pixs are generally well composed and colour balance quite, to quote The Chef, "relaxing".

Without mod, use R72, the speed as low as 1/8", you need tripod and bright sunny day, after attach filter, you can't see through the OVF, all black black one

Of course use IR on people colour a bit strange, but I still find it acceptable,. And guess what, if convert to b/w. just convert, no need pp further and the pix is almost perfect, although I would pp just a little bit :victory:

This is again very 9s. The rest... Have to be careful not to let the IR special effect distract you from the original photo. Just imagine... without IR, what will they look like? #1 still quite good, #2 and 3 if no IR will be very ordinary and not worth a second look.
Things like IR, if well-executed, can be excellent, as you have shown. But should not "abuse" IR to try push up "D" grade or "F" grade pixs to a higher level.

Another magical piece. There were lots of IR pixs at Ngee Ann exhibition but none like these - because you don't just shoot trees and greenery but combine with man-made objects. Well done again
Edit: But looking again, I think the roof a bit too much, fighting with the rest of the pix. Either that, or make the roof more. Now the attention is divided between roof and tree. I think less roof more tree is better since IR pix tree more interesting.
The other b/w one, composition not bad (although quite classsical and conservative but that's still ok) but why the pix (tone/colour) look like that? Looks like you overplay pp arh? Like very very old photo until not only colour faded but also the paper start to disintegrate and got powder coming out from the paper!

Sorry have to disagree. Very luan (chaotic) especially the bridges - although this may be the fault of the architecture but to me if luan either don't shoot or find a better angle. The flare also I find too distracting - too much, too big, to well-defined shape, it is fighting for attention with the rest of the photo.
Only pix I find quite good is #1 with the shadows, not yet A* standard but "B" can lah.
Overall, no Wah!!!!! from me.

One thing I will never forget is my experience with high-end audio. First time I went to CES - Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, part of which is the biggest hifi show in the world - everything WAH!!! and omg!!! By my 4th or 5th show, only 1 or 2 rooms WAH!!!! And one of those WAH!!!! rooms the total equipment cost only US$1,000 vs other rooms that run into 10s or 100s of thousands.
When you learn to discern quality - whether in photos, hifi, food, etc - you learn to sieve out those that seem impressive at first versus those with real substance.
Eg the $1,000 hifi room - incidentally set up by Singaporean living in Canada, Mr Hsu of Hsu Research subwoofers - he used very cheap equipment like $100+ speakers and $100+ integrated CD player, amplifier hampalang combined (like PnS in photography). But overall sound was very pleasing or "relaxing" and very musical - ie sounds like music not like hifi and able to convey the emotion of the music.
In hifi, one good test is how long you can listen to and enjoy the music, versus very impressive-sounding systems that make your ears tired quickly, sometimes within 1 or 2 minutes.
Likewise, good photo you can look and enjoy long time. Not necessary relaxing / boring photo. Can be dramatic, sad, etc, even chaotic. But you can look long time and never get tired of it. Just as good hifi can listen rock, heavy classical, etc and still not get tired.
For me, one good test is whether I still like the same photo after 1 month, one year.... 10 years. Some of my old photos, after 20+ years I still consider them good whereas some others, after 1 week or 1 month, I no longer like.
It will be good exercise every now and then, look at old photos - whether your own or others that you consider good - and see how you feel seeing them again after long time. I remember some of the old travel guide book photographers, I used to WAH!!! Now I look again and I say Bleah!

Hi guys,
OT on IR.
I visited Steven from Camera Hospital this evening and I saw his IR converted pns compact camera. The pix taken with the pns rocks. I thinks it is Canxn with Cmos sensor.
May be I will consult him if it i is possible to convert my Nikon S220 camera gotten from lucky draw into IR.
The result may not be desirable for Fujifilm F11 to be converted into IR as it is CCD sensor.

He did not apply permit from HDB is it? Void deck can display salted fish, Malay wedding, organise karaoke contest and minister visitation but cannot hold photo exhibition... How come?
How can Singapore promote art to the masses if this cannot and that cannot? Everything must begin from the heartland mah.

hihi ^__^ just checking out your gallery of IR shoots.
I think the josstick with blue instead of amber looks really catchy.
the one with fake show in lilac is also nice. unmoded cam no chance of capturing falling leaves T__T a lot of limitations.
I'd say pic 1 n 3 would be my fav for pictures below of the railway shoot
'lost in the woods' looks hauntingly surreal
I did some IR shooting at the japanese gardens too a few months back when i was down for a business trip. sadly only 1 hour there so only got a few shots. I plan to make a trip to the botanical gardens next ^__^ hopefully it will be a better shoot.

My view is different from the 2 sifus. Although this is not picture perfect, I like it because:
1) The subject is well-islotated
2) The subject matter makes me want to look at photo longer
3) The colour makes me look at the picture even longer.
4) It is IRler, which I don't shoot, so even more interesting.
One obvious weakness if you will is that I believe that the subject matter is the tree. But, the sky is too colourful and takes a major part of my attention away from what you are trying to portray. This is why I named the photo "Desert Storm" or "Last Tree Standing In Storm".

About the origins of the estate, and the old Tyersall Istana:
"In March 1857, Boustead and Co. advertised for sale, Tyersall, William Napier’s estate and house in the Tanglin area which covered sixty-seven acres of land.William Napier retired from the East in 1857 after a distinguished career. Napier Road is named after him and the road led to his house and his estate, Tyersall, which was built in 1854 and later replaced by New Tyersall (or Istana Tyersall), the Sultan Abu Bakar of Johor’'s (1831-1895) palatial Singapore residence.
Sometime in 1860, the property was purchased by Sultan Abu Bakar of Johor, grandson of Temenggung Abdul Rahman who had negotiated with Raffles the Singapore in 1819. Napier’s house was demolished to make way for the construction of New Tyersall in 1890.
The house was completed in 1892, and the Sultan held such a grand housewarming reception that the Singapore Free Press provided details of the architecture and fittings of the house. The rectangular building measured 210 feet long by 174 feet deep, was in the “Corinthian style of architecture… with a red tiled roof” and a seventy-feet high tower in the center topped by the Sultan’s symbolic star and crescent.
Among its key features were a spacious projected carriage porch, a grand staircase with ornamental iron balustrades, a grand reception room, a ball room, a billiard room -- and it was fitted with electric light. The installation of electricity was hailed by the Free Press as indicative of an improvement of “domestic civilization, and a marked step in the industrial progress of the Colony.” Interior-wise, the fanlights were Arabsque in design, the wood used was teak and ironwood and the building had altogether 420 doors.
New Tyersall, according to Lee Kip Lin, architect and author of The Singapore House, was one of the grandest homes built in the Victorian Eclectic idiom, combining not only gothic and classical motifs, but also some Indo-Saracenic elements into the design. In his welcoming speech, Sultan Abu Bakar announced the plans for the house had been approved by his late wife, the Sultana, and executed by the Malay architect, Datoh Yayah. Typically Singaporean, New Tyersall had a cosmopolitan character. The iron-work had been carried out mainly by the local engineering firm of Howarth Erskine,74 and some portion of it by H.C. Hogan, the contractor was Mr. Wong Ah Fook from Johore, and the upholstery was provided by John Little and Co., the “finest Store East of Suez.” Once home to drag hunts until the sultry weather outdid the imported English hounds, New Tyersall was destroyed by a fire reported at 2:45 am on September 10th, 1905. The cause of the fire was faulty electrical wiring."
