When doing PP, there is a fine line between real and unreal. Once the line is crossed, the image will look fake ("overplay" - according to Mr. David Tay).

 especially Clarke Quay, got some really interesting "infrastructure" if you look carefully. It is already in the pix by Rynna but must see from upclose and from a certain angle. :happy1:

Anyway, agree, pixs are nice. But a bit too "postcard perfect" ie nice but nothing unusual which has not been shown before. The challenge of photography is to present a scene that everybody has seen, but in a way that nobody / few people have seen.

As for calendar... well if you receive a calendar with those HDB pixs, would you go WOW!? HDB flats are basically boring and very very hard to photograph well. Can be done, but very hard.

So far I think I have only one or two HDB pixs that I am proud of - and unfortunately one of them was shot on film and in vertical format, so I would not be submitting that. The other one shows rain, not "politically correct" ha ha.

I hate to break even more bad news to you. You will need to buy another laptop very soon. While calibrating your laptop monitor on Saturday, I notice that the MAXIMUM luminance of your laptop monitor is only 86 cd per m2 (SI unit for luminance is candela per square metre). A normal LCD monitor should have a MAXIMUM luminance of around 400 to 300 cd per m2.

This means the back lit fluorescent lamps are wearing out. Your monitor will appear dimmer as time goes by. The screen will flicker when it is about to die. With daily usage, it will probably lasts you for another year at most.

Since you have a capable IT engineer to back you up, why don't you get the Acer i7 laptop which TheChef mentioned for $1,000?

Actually, those serious about photography should seriously consider a desktop instead of a laptop. Me not being the sort of person who likes to work on the computer at MDonald's or wherever, I very seldom feel the need for a portable computer. If I really really need, I might get a cheap netbook instead, even more portable.

Yeah agree... You can setup a reasonable Windows-based PC running on i5 processor for under S$1,000.

For mobile web browsing, use an iPad.

Steven's (of Camera Hospital) daughters were playing ping-pong game on the iPad when I visited him last week. It looks fun.

I think because most people don't know and don't care about image quality and Fuji can sell lots more cameras with features like 15X or 30X zoom rather than just good image quality.

But this happens in other realms too. If you ever hear a hifi system with turntable that is well-set up, WAH.... it is way way better than any CD, DVD. BlueRay or hampalang modern technology.

If you dunno what is a turntable, that's a good thing because it shows that you are young

Maybe you should start a thread titled "Ghostly Sighting" or something along this line. Your recent postings have a dark theme to it. My pick - these two, Leaves and flowers.

And hope you don't mind, I have done a simple cropped and PP level adjustment
on both photos and darkens part of the background.

You must learn from your shortcoming and improve. If not, no point asking for grading. Up till now, I don't have the courage to buy a S100fs because of the flat and extraordinarily noisy shots that are posted by you. I don't know whether it is the camela or is it just you. I am going a bit bonkus. Sorry sis. :knock1:

Better buy the S2 Pro la. To me, S100fs is like similar to S5 Pro, but not as good. I feel the S2 Pro will give you a more interesting camela experience.

(Then if your S2 Pro pixs not good we can :knock1: you, ha ha!)

This is what Bluffname told you over dinner just now - using Curve Adjustment Layer (in red circle) to tweak contrast.
