RULES AND REGULATION OF THE COMPETITION (TERMS AND CONDITIONS)
Eligibility
1. This contest is free to enter and is open to all Singapore citizens and also all the people residing in Singapore with minimum age of 16. These include permanent residences; employment pass, student pass and dependent pass holder. The organizing team of NUSSU VPC is not allowed to take part.
2. Participants are divided into two categories:
a) Students
- Students from any Universities, polytechnics and junior colleges in Singapore.
b) Public
- Participants other than student category.
Description of Theme
The theme of this competition is Gone, but not Forgotten.
Photo Submission
1. Each participant is only allowed to submit a maximum of 3 photographs.
2. The photographs submitted must be the participant’s own work and taken in Singapore. Please note that pictures downloaded from any websites or other sources are strictly not allowed.
3. Photographs submitted must not have won prizes in other competitions previously or published for any commercial purposes.
4. Digital manipulation distorts the originality of the photographs is not allowed. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, converting colour images to black and white are allowed.
5. Each photograph must be saved as JPEG format and must not be larger than 3MB.
6. Photographs are to be submitted to thehunt2011.vpc@gmail.com
7. The photographs, titled THE HUNT – [Participant’s Full Name_Entry No. XX] must be submitted with the following information:
- Full name of the participant
- NRIC or passport number
- Job title
- Contact number
- Email address
- Title of each photograph
- A short description of each photo (less than 50 words)
Closing date
1. The closing date of the competition is on 30th October 2011, 2359 hours.
2. Entries submitted after 30th October 2011, 2359 hours will be disqualified.
Organizers’ (NUSSU VPC) rights
1. NUSSU VPC reserves the right to disqualify and withhold prizes for participants violating any of these rules and regulations.
2. NUSSU VPC reserves the non-exclusive rights to reproduce, display and publish the photographs to their official website or in any media. Where any photograph is reproduced, the photographer will be credited.
Copyright Issues
1. The participant must be the sole author and owner of copyright, intellectual property and all other proprietary rights for image(s) entered into the competition and he/she retains full copyright of all images submitted to the competition.
2. It is the legal responsibility of the participant, not the organizers or sponsors to ensure compliance will all ownership and copyright requirements, and own the rights to reproduce the image(s).
3. NUSSU VPC and Samsung Asia Pte. Ltd. reserve the non-exclusive right and royalty to reproduce, display, distribute and show the participant’s submission for the following purposes:
- Operating, administrating and promoting the competition.
- Displaying the participant’s submission on this competition website and/or sponsors’ website.
- Issuing a media release or making media pictures with images regarding winning entries.
- Usage of the participant’s submission during our exhibitions and in publications both printed and online.
Liability
1. NUSSU VPC will exercise care in handling the photographs submitted. However, they will not be responsible for any loss of entries or any unauthorized use of the photographs submitted to the competition.
2. The entrant accepts all risks of personal injury or property damage of any nature whatsoever that may arise from his/her making or creation of the entry or participation in this competition and will not in any way hold the organizers responsible for any liability, loss, damage, expense and cost which he/she may sustain or incur as a result of his/her participation, except for liability which cannot be excluded by law.
3. The entrant (including his or her, parents, legal guardians, executor and/or administrators) hereby agrees to be fully liable to the organizers and their officers, employees and agents for any violation of confidentiality, patent, copyright or any other intellectual property rights in the photograph and materials submitted and shall defend, indemnify and hold the organizers and each of their officers, employees and agents there of harmless from and against any actions, claims, loss or damages for infringement or alleged infringement of such confidentiality, patent, copyright or any other intellectual property rights.
Important note
1. Entries that do not fulfill the above criteria will be deemed ineligible and will be disqualified.
2. Shortlisted participants will be notified by email.
JUDGING CRITERIA
1. The photographs taken must follow the description of the theme.
2. Judging component: - Impact of the photo (50%)
- Creativity (25%)
- Technical skill (25%)
3. Photographs will be judged by a panel of judges formed by Samsung Asia Pte. Ltd. and a team of professional photographers. All judges’ decisions are final.
PRIZES
Samsung cameras will be awarded to the Champion, First runner-up and also Second runner-up for each category.
Champion: Samsung NX200 worth more than $1,000
First runner-up: Samsung WB750 worth up to $500
Second runner-up: Samsung ST96 worth up to $299
